About Amami Oshima Island

Amami Oshima Island is located approximately 380 kilometers south of Kagoshima City and has a circumference of 461 kilometers. The island consists of Amami City, Ryugo Town, Yamato Village, Uken Village, and Setouchi Town, and has a population of approximately 59,000. The island boasts a rich natural environment that is both diverse and rare, including the second largest mangrove forest in Japan and endangered endemic species such as the Amami rabbit. The island is also home to traditional culture such as island songs and August dances, and traditional industries such as the authentic Amami-Oshima silk pongee. The island is accessible from major airports such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, and from Amami Oshima it is also possible to access the Amami Islands via airplanes and ferries.

About Kikai Island

Kikai Island is located to the east of Amami Oshima Island and has a circumference of about 48.6 km. Most of the island is an uplifted coral reef, which continues to rise several millimeters per year. The main industry is agriculture, with sugarcane fields covering the island, and brown sugar and brown sugar shochu made from sugarcane are the island's specialty products. The island is also known as the largest producer of sesame in Japan. Butterflies such as the giant sesame butterfly and the Asagimadara butterfly flit about the island, and in recent years, the island has attracted attention as a diving spot.

About Tokunoshima

Tokunoshima Island is located approximately 468 km south of Kagoshima City and has a circumference of 89 km. The island consists of three towns, Tokunoshima Town, Isen Town, and Amagi Town, and has a population of approximately 22,000. The main industries include agriculture (sugarcane, potatoes, fruit trees, etc.), inshore fishing, confectionery made from brown sugar, and brown sugar shochu production. The island is also famous for its bullfights, with major competitions held several times a year. It is the second largest island in the Amami Archipelago, where visitors can enjoy the rich nature and simple southern island culture.

About Okinoerabu Island

Okinoerabu Island is a raised coral reef island with a circumference of about 55.8 km, located about 552 km south of Kagoshima City. The island consists of two towns, Wadomari and China, and has a population of approximately 12,000. Blessed with a mild climate with an average annual temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, tropical and subtropical flowers bloom throughout the four seasons, and cultivation of the Erabu Lily and Spray Aster is flourishing. The many underground limestone caves have earned the island the nickname "Island of Flowers and Limestone Caves. The clear blue sea and sky, the dazzling sun, and the simple, warm-hearted people will make your trip an unforgettable experience.

About Yoron Island

Yoron Island is located at the southernmost tip of the Amami Islands, about 23 km from the main island of Okinawa, and has a circumference of about 23.7 km. The island was formed by coral reefs, and its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are said to be the "Pearl of the Orient. Yurigahama Beach, which only appears when the conditions are right, shines emerald green all around, and the color of the sea and white sandy beaches make the island feel like a paradise on earth, attracting many visitors. The area has a deep relationship with Okinawa Prefecture, and visitors can enjoy the unique culture that is a fusion of Satsuma and Ryukyu.

How to Participate

Advance registration is required to participate in the Amami Shimano Expo.

First, find your preferred program.

Please check the details of the program you wish to book and click the "Online Reservation" or "Request Reservation" button.

In case of online reservation, your reservation will be confirmed after your application is completed.
Credit card payment is required after the reservation is confirmed.
*For reservations after the application deadline, please call each program provider directly.

Notice on the day before your visit and meeting place on the day of your visit

We will send you a reservation confirmation e-mail the day before your experience date, so please check the contents.
Please arrive at the meeting place 15 minutes before the day of the event.

3. Program implementer's instructions, etc.

5. Fees and Participation Restrictions

Insurance is included in the participation fee.
*Adult and child prices are available depending on the program.
*If there is no child charge, a flat rate will be applied.
*Please note that elementary school students and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

6. Cancellation of programs and course changes

*The program may be cancelled or the content may be changed if the weather worsens or the minimum number of participants is not reached.

7. Clothing and personal belongings

*Please come dressed appropriately for the program.
*For outdoor walking programs, please wear comfortable walking shoes such as sneakers or trekking shoes.

8. Food & Beverage

*If you have any food allergies when participating in a program that involves food and beverages, please notify the staff at the time of reservation or program participation.

*In the following cases, the Amami Shimano Expo Secretariat reserves the right to refuse participation in the program at its discretion.
